This year's A level students, our second cohort since the Sixth Form opened in 2015, have performed exceptionally well in their summer examinations. Their impressive results prove they have aimed high and exceeded expectations across a breadth of subjects, whatever their interests and talents may be. With an A* - E pass rate of 99.4%, the students have surpassed the 2018 national average and our own high 2017 benchmark of 98.8%! Remarkably over a quarter of all grades achieved were those highly-coveted A* - As, again exceeding the national average, which illustrates the hard work of both students and staff. With nearly 75% of all grades awarded at grade C and above and half of all grades at A* - B, we are delighted with the achievements of every individual student. .............Click here for full article.
Message from Director of Sixth Form
Welcome to our Sixth Form website which introduces you to the wide range of opportunities available at Alderbrook for our Post 16 students. Your Sixth Form years are some of the most exciting of your academic journey. Filled with new challenges; subjects, staff and hopefully new friends too, we aim to nurture these precious years and help you take your final steps into adulthood with confidence.
We offer a fantastic range of subjects at A Level here at Alderbrook; however, our programme is designed to equip you with more than just good grades. For you to succeed beyond the school environment you will need to demonstrate independence, confidence and determination. We want to ensure you are given every support in planning your chosen route past Sixth Form education, whether it is to university, an apprenticeship or full time employment.
The fact that we are a recently formed, smaller than average community of students is irrelevant. We can focus on you as an individual. We can offer you more time and support. Ultimately, we are interested in your success with us. You can choose from a varied Programme of Study according to your strengths; 3 A Levels, 3 A Levels with either Core Maths or an EPQ, or indeed 4 A Levels should you wish. You will be studying in an environment where staff care about your personal development, your academic progress and there is strong pastoral support.
Thank you for considering Alderbrook as your Sixth Form. We believe that in choosing to study with us you will be making the right choice. Although we are sure that you will find the enclosed information very helpful, should you have a question, then please do get in touch.
We look forward to welcoming you soon.

What our students say
“The Sixth Form teachers at Alderbrook go above and beyond to help their students be successful. As I look forward to year 13, I know it will be just as exciting and challenging and I’m eager to see what other new opportunities lay ahead. All I hope is that it doesn’t go too fast!”
Beatrice Castle - Head Girl, Alderbrook Sixth Form
“For me, Alderbrook Sixth Form is not only a fantastic place to learn, it’s also an amazing environment to be part of.”
James Hunter - Head Boy, Alderbrook Sixth Form
“I joined the Sixth Form as an external student in 2016. I was standing where you are today, a year ago. I settled in really quickly and have never looked back. I’m very happy, the teachers are great and I’m really enjoying all my courses.”
George Smith - Deputy Head Boy, Alderbrook Sixth Form
“At post 16 I attended Alderbrook School’s Drama Department. The course was really challenging and very successful. Between the great facilities, inspirational teaching and engaging lessons, I was equipped not only with the skills I needed to continue my training afterwards, but the motivation to succeed as an actor”.
Josh Johnson - Graduate BA (Hons) Acting, Birmingham School of Acting 2014
