Message from Director of Sixth Form

Welcome to our Sixth Form website which introduces you to the wide range of opportunities available at Alderbrook for our Post 16 students. Your Sixth Form years are some of the most exciting of your academic journey. Filled with new challenges; subjects, staff and hopefully new friends too, we aim to nurture these precious years and help you take your final steps into adulthood with confidence.

We offer a fantastic range of subjects at A Level here at Alderbrook; however, our programme is designed to equip you with more than just good grades. For you to succeed beyond the school environment you will need to demonstrate independence, confidence and determination. We want to ensure you are given every support in planning your chosen route past Sixth Form education, whether it is to university, an apprenticeship or full time employment.

The fact that we are a recently formed, smaller than average community of students is irrelevant. We can focus on you as an individual. We can offer you more time and support.  Ultimately, we are interested in your success with us. You can choose from a varied Programme of Study according to your strengths; 3 A Levels, 3 A Levels with either Core Maths or an EPQ, or indeed 4 A Levels should you wish. You will be studying in an environment where staff care about your personal development, your academic progress and there is strong pastoral support.

Thank you for considering Alderbrook as your Sixth Form. We believe that in choosing to study with us you will be making the right choice. Although we are sure that you will find the enclosed information very helpful, should you have a question, then please do get in touch.

We look to forward to welcoming you soon.

A message from our Head

We, at Alderbrook, believe that going on to sixth form studies is the time when students take their futures firmly into their own hands and prepare to seize the many opportunities available to them.

To that end, personal and academic excellence is an attitude here, as reflected in the high standards in all aspects of sixth form life, clearly evident amongst our Year 12 students. And whilst academic excellence is central to this, we also believe that if you leave school with a string of impressive exam results and not much else, then an opportunity has been missed. The world needs individuals who know how to think, not simply what to think and we retain an unwavering commitment to developing this within all our students during their time here as part of our Sixth Form and wider school community.
